A few weeks ago my lovely friend Emily invited a group of friends to visit her at her house at the beach. We had a really awesome trip, full of late night giggle sessions, countless episodes of Orange is the New Black, yummy home made lasagna, and of course, the beach! The most memorable experience from our trip, by far, was the day we spent at First Flight Adventure Park. Em had scored us some sweet free tickets, so we gladly harnessed up and hit the ropes.
What is this place, you ask? Only 5 stories of challenging obstacle courses and zip lines that total in 50 feet of pure adrenaline, sweat, fear, and some pretty gnarly bruises. Oh, and it was super fun too. Rachael, Emily, Bridget, Carly and I all started out on the beginner level that they had named the “Tropical Storm.” Even being the easiest level, it was quite challenging for most of us.
That’s me crawling through some wobbly tunnel on the “Category 1” level. Emily is on the right, about to get in the boat. Carly and I both HATED that boat. It’s like the uncertainty of boarding a regular kayak, only 25 feet in the air. Think about that for a minute. And it only got harder from there.
Bridget was nice enough to snap some pictures for us in-between levels.
Rachael made the obstacle course her b*tch. No joke. That girl was a trailblazer. Or a ninja. Or both.
As you can see, the platforms got tinier as the levels got higher. The smaller the obstacle, the more one would have to rely on their physical strength. I made it to the 2nd from the top (the one with the logs) before I peaced out.
Rachael put us all to shame, however.
Let me put that into perspective for you.
Have you ever done anything like this?
What is the scariest thing you’ve ever (willingly) done?
